It’s crushing that as children and teenagers our own parents, the people we look up to most, tell us that the person we are is wrong. It broke my heart to hear my mom say “we will get you fixed.” I know that has a bigger impact on me even today than I will ever realize. I will carry this trauma with me for the rest of my life. I’m not writing this note to complain. I’m writing this note to celebrate. I’m so proud of all of us for breaking through these evil ideals and for living our lives loud and proud. I’m done feeling like shit for the beautiful person I am. And I wouldn’t change a god damn thing. I’m so happy for the person I am and hope you are too! Life is too short to hold back or to not enjoy every aspect of it. Let’s use today to remember the hard times we have gone through. And to celebrate how far we have come. The future is bright when you love yourself and the people around you!!! XO Justin 💪🏼🌈
