this is from a shoot i did a long while ago, maybe 2013? here's the story:
Drake and i traveled to Budapest, where a very long time friend had moved in 2010. This friend produces h y p n o porn, and i'd worked for him for many years as a videographer and production assistant, and when he would occasionally do a girl/girl video he'd put me in it. we came out to do my first boy/girl scenes for him with Drake. (it was really fun and a total blast! DM me if you'd be interested in that vid, i can get you a link to my friend's store).
Anyhoo, right across the street from where he was living was the porn company DDF. i had skyped with them prior to my coming out there, and booked 2 full days of work - the first day would be all solo stuff, and the second day would be girl/girl.
we came out and i did work for my friend with another model whom i knew pretty well from lots of prior work here in the US. she had worked for DDF and said, "you'll have a great time, as long as you don't get "so&so" as your photographer. he's a total dick and made me feel like shit all day."
well, guess who my photographer just so happened to be?
i can't tell you how important it is to have a positive, upbeat, complimentary photographer for a long day of shooting. your photog/videog/director whatever should be your *cheerleader*. if you want to get great content, you make your model feel smoking hot and sexy and awesome.
this guy just did what could amount to almost the opposite of that.
i did my best all day, but my back was starting to hurt and he was really pushing me in negative ways all day.
the next day, i showed up for part 2, and was told on the spot that this day was canceled and they didn't want me back. they made it clear this was personal, something i did wrong the previous day but wouldn't explain to me what. they flat out REFUSED to give me a kill fee, which is not only common in the US, but is practically mandatory (as i have set aside the day for them, when i could have booked other work with other people). then the model/producer whoever she was was practically yelling at me, arguing with me, telling me she modeled in the US for so many years and had never heard of a kill fee. WHAT?!
then of course there's a language barrier, and everything else. tbh at the time i was so furious. i was given zero explanation.
so i talk crap about DDF as a company whenever i can, because i felt very poorly treated and for the amount of work, wasn't compensated as well as i should have been, and of course the whole kill-fee thing.
